Resistance spot welding is the most commonly used method for joining steel sheets. It is a complex process in which coupled interactions exist between electrical, thermal, mechanical, metallurgical phenomena and even surface behaviors. Because of this complexity, it is very difficult to obtain insightful information of welding process through the experiments alone. Physical weld simulators that simulate the weld by heating and cooling the material have been used in the past. On the other hand, numerical modeling and simulation provides a powerful tool in studying these interactions. These types of simulations are nowadays used as a part of the product development process. By replacing physical testing with computer simulations, a lot of time and money can be saved and more design solutions can be numerically tested leading to more reliable products. This work provides a step by step method for simulating the spot welding process by using finite element method. It is useful for the professionals using spot welding process extensively and can help them improve their production process as well as product development capability.
Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a kind of resistance of cancer cells to multiple classes of chemotherapic drugs that can be structurally and mechanistically unrelated. Classical MDR regards altered membrane transport that results in lower cell concentrations of cytotoxic drug and is related to the over expression of a variety of proteins that act as ATP-dependent extrusion pumps. P-glycoprotein is the most important and widely studied member of the family that belongs to the ABC superfamily of transporters. It is apparent that, besides its role in cancer cell resistance, this protein has multiple physiological functions as well, since it is expressed also in many important non-tumoural tissues and is largely present in prokaryotic organisms. Several novel MDR reversing agents (also known as chemosensitisers) are currently undergoing clinical evaluation for the treatment of resistant tumours. In this work, the effects of natural compounds on P-glycoprotein and anticancer drug efflux transporters are summarized.

Design and development of security-aware and performance efficient routing protocols for Mobile Ad hoc Network is an active area of research. AODV is one of prominent routing protocol for MANET routing. To exchange session key using public key crypto in a single step with route establishment phase CAODV was proposed. Inspired from CAODV in this work we propose a security extension of AODV and developed a new routing protocol for MANET- SCAODV- adding security field which enable the protocol to run in sixteen different modes according to the security desired. The proposed protocol can also exchange session key in single step with route establishment. We evaluate and compare the performance of SCAODV protocol with AODV and CAODV. Simulation results demonstrate that SCAODV consistently outperforms CAODV protocol in terms of routing latency, data packet delay, packet delivery ratio and packet drop. Proposed protocol has the properties of resistance to Spoofed Routing and Secure Key Exchange with Confidentiality, Integrity, Authenticity, Non repudiation and Verifiability.
This work presents a content-rich set of studies that adhere to international research methods standards. A large number of business process management references are presented in addition to well-known organisational theories. All of the research tasks are explained thoroughly to allow other researchers and practitioners to benefit, not only from the results, but also from the reuse of the step-by-step description of the qualitative and quantitative methods presented. Some results were found to contradict currently acceptable norms, such as stakeholders’ direct relationships with each other being more critical than their communication process.

Many people grapple with destructive thought processes or a "critical inner voice" that directs their behavior and, to varying degrees, limits their lives. Using deeply personal and very human stories based on his own clinical practice, noted psychologist Robert W. Firestone illustrates the struggles of his clients to give words to this "enemy within," and in the process overcome its damaging influence. These revealing and captivating stories offer glimpses into the uniquely human relationship that develops in the therapeutic encounter and demonstrate the powerful impact that the experience has on both client and therapist.Dr. Firestone is the originator of a therapeutic method called "Voice Therapy," by which clients learn to identify the language of the defense system and eventually separate their own point of view from its harmful effects. Each story provides an intimate look into one person's life, illuminates aspects of his or her "dark side," and highlights an important insight into the therapeutic process. This sensitively written book will evoke emotional responses in readers, and inspire them to take action to challenge the dictates of their own inner critic. Taken together, these stories underscore the distinctive merits and continuing relevance of the therapeutic process, especially in our distracted, technological world increasingly detached from feeling.
“No rain without stopping, no war without ending,” according to conventional wisdom. War would cease to some point, but it may take different routes of terminating. Besides elimination and capitulation, negotiation is another route of ending the war peacefully. In many cases, negotiation that can produce a peace agreement is a rocky process, but it is possible to achieve. Indonesia is a case in point. The government and GAM (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, Free Aceh Movement) finally signed a peace treaty in 2005 after almost three decades of civil war. So far, there have been no serious complaints about the implementation of the treaty, only minor ones. With the same factors that influence negotiation, the process may fail along the way. South Thailand is an example of this case. The government and Bersatu (United Front for the Independence of Pattani) remain at war albeit sporadically. This book compares Aceh as a case of sustained peace process and South Thailand as a case of collapsed peace process. It will contribute to our understanding why a peace process is sustained while others are disintegrated.
Over the years, in-vitro Franz diffusion experiments have evolved into one of the most important methods for evaluation of transdermal drug delivery. During the conduct of the study, the commonly faced problems include formation of air bubbles, limited receptor compartment volume leading to data that suffers from poor reproducibility. A new disposable static diffusion cell has been designed which consists of a cup shaped donor compartment made of a semi-permeable membrane fitted to a rigid frame. This donor compartment is supported on a plastic plate that also contains a hole for the sample withdrawal. Glass beaker of any size can be taken as the receptor compartment. Novel diffusion cell offers larger surface area of the semi-permeable membrane for diffusion, reproducibility of results, freedom from air bubbles, flexibility in the volume of receptor compartment, convenient handling and quicker results.
Scientific research articles provide a method for scientists to communicate with other scientists about the results of their research. A standard format is used for these articles, in which the author presents the research in an orderly, logical manner. This doesn't necessarily reflect the order in which you did or thought about the work. The dissemination of research results and findings is an integral part of the research process. Researchers write to keep records of their work for themselves, but more importantly also for the readers and peer researchers who are expecting a standard form, language, and style when reading research papers. Writing in a scientific style may be hard in the beginning for novices, but clear communication and concise writing have no magic involved. The author has helped provide to the profession significant information on which to base current decisions on writing of scientific articles and on which to build for future developments and methods. This book gives an introductory report on basic issues of writing and organizing scientific articles, and getting them published.
Today foreign languages, mainly English language is gaining more and more importance than ever. Demands of development of good English language communication skills are being increasing. This demands to look through the language learning process in all over the world. Conditions, where English language communicative competences should be developed, are various. For Georgian students there have increased the possibilities of travelling abroad, exists various student foreign exchange programs; there is possibility of speaking with the foreign tourists in all time of the year. All these above mentioned are not enough to satisfy the world demand. The fact stays as a fact that the adults entering the higher educational institutions have the appropriate language level, but they cannot speak fluent English. This might be caused by the various factors. The first factor is – they are not in the real English environment (in the natural realia), the second- they might possess inappropriate (language knowledge) level and the third- there exists the psychological barrier, which creates a huge cave between the language knowledge and its realization.
Recently, the importance of intellectual property in Malaysia has been attracting significant attentions by the government and university policy makers. Spin-off formation is a result of the manipulation of university intellectual property. Spin-offs originate from universities and research institutions established by the students and employees of these organizations. Universities are powerful drivers of innovation that can change this world through science and technology breakthrough and job creation. Having explained the significance of spin-offs, this book looks into the factors influencing the decision making process in creating spin-off companies in Malaysia, analyze reasons and identify who are involved the decision making process in spin-off formation.
The present study was carried out to investigate the antibacterial activity of Ocimum basilicum ethanolic extract in-vitro and in-vivo by inducing diarrhea in rat which was caused by oral administration of pathogenic Escherichea coli. From the results obtained, it could be concluded that ethanolic extract of O.B leaves at dose 200 mg/kg. BW. was more effective and safe in comparison with antibacterial agent and other O.B dose, this anti-diarrheal activity of O.B ethanolic extract may be due to its constituents of secondary metabolites alkaloids like (hyoscyamine and scopolamine), phenols like (Catechol and pyrogallol), tannins, saponins, flavonoids like (Quercetin and Epicatechin), steroids and terpenoids, that are responsible for the antibacterial activity with different mechanisms of action.
